If I could share only one piece of advice to a new yoga teacher, it would be to read and study as much as possible immediately upon completing your first yoga teacher training program. Experiment with what you enjoy most. If the studying feels arduous, explore other specialties until the learning excites you.
The books below serve as direct guidance related to structuring classes, and giving depth to the context of your messaging. Other books provide science backed insight into the way humans operate - that I love weaving into the message of a class. It only adds to someones growth journey to also be getting information about the nervous system and ways to regulate it, or the influences of behavior and habits in general. The more seeds of information you can plant in your classes, the more students will return to learn something new again.These books give meaning, texture and relevance to all of the layers that go into teaching a great yoga class.
When you study and improve your understanding of teaching yoga, you also are presented with opportunities for self refinement and understanding. When one improves the other follows. Your dedication to learning how and what to teach in your yoga classes, by proxy alone will improve the quality of your own lived experience and skillful managing of your self.
